Meet the Flames
The Flames began in 2023 after the previous team (HV Rocks) was retired. Since we draw players from north of Glens Falls to south of Albany, we changed our home field from Valatie to Halfmoon in 2024 to be centrally located in the Capital District.
Our games are most often co-ed. Frequently, neither our team nor our opponents have enough female players to field a team. But we play boys games and girls games as often as we can schedule them.
Our team pre-season training starts the last two Mondays and Wednesdays of August and the first Wednesday in September from 5:30-7:30.
Games start in early September and complete around the end of October. Typically, we play two games a week, usually M/W/F, but T/TH and Sat are possible. Never on Sunday. Training sessions are added to fill any gaps in the game schedule.
The cost for the season varies based on many variables including the number of players we have, the number of games and tournaments we book, and the squad on which your child plays. The amounts range from approximately $70 - 140 for the season plus your uniform purchase (uniform is rather inexpensive).
Commitments to play are taken in May and June each year. This allows us to plan the schedule for the fall.
Our Teams
Varsity Coed
Our varsity team is 9-12th grade (flexible for talented younger players).
Modified Coed
Several of our opponents also offer Modified teams (6-8th grade). So NEW this year, we are open to 6th grade players (12 years old). If we have enough players in the 6-8th grade range, we will offer a Modified team. If we don’t have enough, we will include any 6th graders on our JV team and continue to play our JV squad vs. Modified as we have been.
We play girls games as often as we can schedule them.
